Today BA announces the launch of service from London Heathrow to Hyderabad, India. Service begins at the start of the 2008 Winter schedule, on October 27th 2008.
Operating 5 times per week Boeing 777-200ER service, Hyderabad becomes BA's 6th destination in India, joining Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Kolkata. BA will now offer 48 flights per week between London and India.

Good news. I've heard of many pax who travel from the UK to Hyderabad, via Frankfurt with LH. A direct service will be appreciated I'm sure.
Usually when BA launches a new route from LHR another is dropped or there are frequency reductions. Will this be the case or will they have enough slots?

I was asking myself the same question. Will they be dropping another route/frequency elsewhere and if they dont, where will the aircraft come from?

They are may be getting some ex-BMED slots? or GT/AZ ones?

I'm excited. I fly to Hyderabad from Seattle two times a year. Both for business and family visits. I'd rather fly NW/KLM SEA-AMS-HYD but having SEA-LHR-SEA with BA as an option is always good. A few years ago I could only dream to have one-stop trip from SEA to HYD but now I have NWA/KLM, LH and now BA to choose from.

Not in the first round of expansion, but in a subsequent round - yes. The initial focus is on cities with larger demand (and better airport infrastructure and slot availability) like BOM/DEL/MAA etc.

Will 0715 be a good time to catch a longhaul flight out of HYD from the new airport? Does this mean a check in of 0515 - catch a taxi at 0400? Are there any nightclubs that stay open so long that you can drive to the airport straight from a party?
The timing is done to give good connection to/from BA US West Coast flights?
